Job summary

YMCA of the USA in Tampa Bay area is seeking a Program Director for Family Programming, Afterschool, and Camp to lead center staff, drive member engagement, and ensure high-quality program delivery.

This role requires supervising multiple programs, managing budgets, and fostering a premier member experience while aligning with YMCA goals and safety standards. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 2+ years aquatic or similar with supervisor experience preferred.
• Experience as aquatic trainer (Youth Swim Lesson and/or Lifeguard instructor) preferred.
• Experience supervising or leading in a 1,500+ member organization preferred.
• Budget supervision experience preferred (>$500,000).
• Proven results in improving program quality and growth through planning and organization.
• Able to meet or exceed goals and engage diverse participants.
• Strong multitasking and adaptability to changing priorities.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills for data-driven decisions.
• Strategic planning and execution experience; proficient in standard business software.
• Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Program Quality and Growth: lead Family Programming, Afterschool, and Camp to drive participation and membership experience.
• Oversee Stay & Play childcare initiatives and calendar to boost family engagement.
• Develop budgets for multiple sites and monitor monthly progress; liaison with schools and community groups.
• Ensure compliance with licensing and safety, and participate in audits as needed.
• Operations/Team Leadership: supervise and coach staff; lead payroll and scheduling; ensure adherence to policies.
• Leader-on-Duty coverage when leadership is unavailable; drive member satisfaction and retention initiatives.
