Job summary

Lakeside School, an independent day school in Seattle, seeks an experienced Director of Facilities and Maintenance to lead strategic and day-to-day stewardship of two campuses, residences, and athletic facilities. The role ensures safe, accessible, and well-maintained spaces that support teaching and community life.

Reporting to the CFO, you will manage maintenance programs, oversee staff and vendors, plan capital renewals, and coordinate with school leadership on renovations and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, construction management, engineering, business/operations, or related field (or equivalent).
• At least seven years of progressively responsible facilities/operations experience.
• Experience with capital planning, building systems, and project delivery.
• Experience in an educational, nonprofit or union environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for maintenance, operations, and long-term care of school facilities and residences.
• Oversee custodial services and maintain high cleanliness standards across all spaces.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for building systems.
• Manage budgets, capital renewals, bids, contracts, and vendor performance.
• Lead facilities staff, foster safety, teamwork, and professional development.
• Coordinate with campus partners on events, transportation, and emergency planning.
