Job summary

eBay seeks a Director of Export Controls & Trade Compliance to lead a global program ensuring regulatory compliance across transactions and shipping models. You will shape policy, governance, risk assessments, and controls in collaboration with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Operations.

The role requires deep knowledge of US and international export regimes, building scalable processes, and managing a high‑performing team.

Qualifications

• Twelve or more years of export controls or related compliance experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, operating, or evaluating an enterprise trade compliance program.
• Deep knowledge of ECRA, EAR, AECA, ITAR and related regimes.
• Experience applying trade rules to technology platforms or online marketplaces.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into scalable business processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead enhancement and operation of export controls and import/export programs for a global marketplace.
• Assess regulatory obligations across transaction and shipping models and manage classifications and filings.
• Develop policies, governance, escalation, and accountability for compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments on listings, products, sellers, buyers, and destinations.
• Oversee licensing, authorization analysis, and export eligibility processes.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement scalable compliance controls.
• Lead training, monitoring, and program improvement initiatives.
