Job summary

Wheaton College in Norton, MA seeks an Academic Director of Experiential Learning to lead collaboration across faculty and staff. The role expands experiential pathways by leveraging the Compass Curriculum, coursework, and support structures in partnership with LCDI.

Reporting to the Provost, the incumbent will prepare first- and second-year students for self-directed learning and guide a four-year engagement with LCDI, driving system-wide experiential opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree and 5-10 years of teaching experience in higher education with internships and externships.
• Experience in leadership roles and career preparation initiatives.
• Doctoral Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Expand the credit-bearing internship course across all programs and collaborate with the Director of Experiential Education and External Engagement on host sites.
• Create stand-alone seminars with LCDI and Academic Advising focused on professional skill development.
• Partner with faculty to integrate experiential learning into existing courses or design new courses meeting experiential goals (e.g., Sophomore Experience).
• Develop experiential learning mini-modules for use by faculty in existing courses.
• Organize and participate in events and campaigns to boost student awareness of opportunities, and regularly assess experiential programs and practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
