Job summary

Heavy Level Consulting seeks a Director of Estimating to join our Client’s Estimating Department. The role leads the estimating team, overseeing cost estimates for heavy civil projects and driving standardization of processes and tools.

Ideal candidates have 10–20+ years in heavy civil estimating, leadership experience, and proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, with a degree in CM/Civil Eng or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• 10–20+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience.
• Experience on highways, bridges, earthwork, utilities, drainage, site development.
• Prior leadership experience managing estimating teams.
• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Heavy Level Consulting is looking for a Director of Estimating to join our Client’s Estimating Department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the estimating department, including training, mentoring, and developing estimators at various levels.
• Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects ranging from conceptual budgets to final bid submissions.
• Develop and implement standardized estimating processes, tools, and best practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Direct quantity takeoffs, production rates, and cost analysis for self-performed and subcontracted work.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
• Lead bid reviews, strategy sessions, and final proposal submissions.
• Evaluate project risks, constructability concerns, and market conditions to support go/no-go decisions.
• Support business development efforts by providing conceptual budgets and preconstruction input for prospective projects.

Qualifications:

• 10-20+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
