Job summary

The role requires 10–20+ years in heavy civil estimating, a strong infra background (highways, bridges, earthwork, utilities), leadership experience, and proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid or similar tools.

Qualifications

• 10–20+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
• Strong background in infrastructure projects (highways, bridges, earthwork, utilities, drainage, site development).
• Prior leadership experience managing estimating teams preferred.
• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid preferred or similar).
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent field experience).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating department, including training and mentoring estimators.
• Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects from conceptual budgets to bids.
• Develop standardized estimating processes, tools and best practices.
• Direct quantity takeoffs, production rates, and cost analysis for self-performed and subcontracted work.
• Build relationships with subcontractors, vendors and suppliers for competitive pricing.
• Lead bid reviews, strategy sessions and final proposal submissions.
• Evaluate risks, constructability concerns and market conditions for go/no-go decisions.
• Support BD with conceptual budgets and preconstruction input.
