Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in heavy equipment, construction technology, digital solutions, product support, equipment sales, or related industries.
• 5+ years of leadership/management experience.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50–60% - mainly within Ohio.
• Experience with equipment technology, telematics, fleet management, machine control, GPS/GNSS, or construction technology.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the dealership’s equipment technology strategy and annual business plan
• Drive revenue growth and adoption of equipment technology products and services
• Partner with Sales, Rental, Product Support, and Major Accounts teams to increase technology penetration
• Lead customer onboarding, demonstrations, training, and technology adoption initiatives
• Oversee technology installation, activation, commissioning, and support processes
• Recruit, lead, coach, and develop technology specialists and support personnel
• Establish and monitor KPIs including technology revenue, telematics adoption, machine control orders, subscription renewals, equipment utilization, technology attachment rates, and customer satisfaction
• Present technology performance, KPIs, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership

DIRECTOR OF EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY – COLUMBUS, OH

$170K–$200K Base + Bonus

A leading heavy equipment dealership is seeking an experienced Director of Equipment Technology to lead the strategy, growth, adoption, and customer success of its heavy equipment technology solutions.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving technology revenue, customer adoption, machine utilization, and technology-enabled business transformation across the dealership. NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN IT ROLE.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the dealership’s equipment technology strategy and annual business plan


• Drive revenue growth and adoption of equipment technology products and services


• Partner with Sales, Rental, Product Support, and Major Accounts teams to increase technology penetration


• Lead customer onboarding, demonstrations, training, and technology adoption initiatives


• Oversee technology installation, activation, commissioning, and support processes


• Recruit, lead, coach, and develop technology specialists and support personnel


• Establish and monitor KPIs including technology revenue, telematics adoption, machine control orders, subscription renewals, equipment utilization, technology attachment rates, and customer satisfaction


• Build and maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers, technology providers, and strategic partners


• Present technology performance, KPIs, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership

Ideal Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, IT, or related field is required, MBA is highly preferred


• 10+ years of experience in heavy equipment, construction technology, digital solutions, product support, equipment sales, or related industries is required


• 5+ years of leadership/management experience is required


• Experience with equipment technology, telematics, fleet management, machine control, GPS/GNSS, or construction technology strongly preferred


• Strong business development, customer-facing, and strategic leadership skills


• Willingness to travel approximately 50–60% - mainly within the state of Ohio
