Job summary

Takanock is seeking a Director, Environmental Permitting & Strategy to lead enterprise-wide permitting, with emphasis on water permitting, across its hyperscale data center and power generation projects. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, you will shape regulatory strategy from site due diligence through project execution.

You will manage consultants, engage federal, state, and local agencies, mentor teams, and align permitting with development schedules.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible environmental permitting experience
  • Extensive experience leading environmental permitting strategy for complex infrastructure or energy development projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in water permitting (Clean Water Act 404/401, wetlands, streams)
  • Experience managing environmental consultants, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure development, including power generation, transmission, or data centers

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide environmental permitting strategy across Takanock's portfolio
  • Provide internal subject-matter expertise for environmental permitting; focus on water permitting and regulatory requirements
  • Develop permitting strategies to reduce risk, accelerate schedules, and improve development certainty
  • Mentor project teams on permitting strategy, risk management, and regulatory engagement
  • Manage environmental consulting firms, scope, budgets, and delivery of reports and permits
  • Coordinate permitting activities with Engineering, Legal, Land, and Commercial teams
