Job summary

Focus on the Family seeks a Director of Data Management to lead the enterprise data function. You will own Snowflake, modernize the legacy SSRS estate, govern data assets, and drive a data-driven culture with certified metrics.

The role combines hands-on platform work with building a high-performing team and setting governance standards across ministries. You will partner with cybersecurity, legal, privacy, and infrastructure teams while shaping the data roadmap and ensuring compliant data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, CS, data science, analytics, or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years in data management, engineering, analytics, or BI, with ≥3 years mentoring staff.
• Hands-on ownership of a cloud data platform in production (Snowflake strongly preferred).
• Ownership of enterprise data architecture, including modeling, source-to-target mapping, and integration patterns.
• Experience modernizing a legacy reporting estate, with governance and stakeholder change management.
• Established data governance with owners, glossary, certified definitions, and a data quality process.
• Advanced SQL and fluency in dbt or equivalent; ELT tooling, version control, and CI/CD.
• Experience with sensitive or regulated data and access controls, classification, and audit requirements.
• Experience developing technical staff onto new platforms and ways of working.
• Able to explain architecture and tradeoffs to non-technical ministry and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Owns enterprise data architecture, modeling, and source-to-target mappings.
• Leads governance, lineage, metadata standards, and data quality programs.
• Manages Snowflake platform architecture, security policies, and observability.
• Oversees ingestion, transformation, and orchestration standards (dbt, version control, CI/CD).
• Drives modernization of SSRS reporting and establishes certified enterprise metrics.
• Leads and develops the data team, sets priorities, and enforces standards.
• Partners with IT, privacy, and cybersecurity on data obligations and governance.
