Job summary

Blue Cross NC in Durham, NC seeks a Director of Enterprise Architecture & Technology Strategy to shape enterprise-wide tech decisions, strategy, and governance. You will partner with executive leadership to drive healthcare digital transformation and scalable platforms.

You will lead architecture standards, modernization efforts, and risk/compliance integration, balancing innovation with cost, security, and reliability across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 15+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in technology leadership roles.
• Experience leading technology strategy and enterprise architecture in healthcare, including payer and provider organizations; knowledge of X12/FHIR/HL7 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver enterprise technology and architecture strategies aligned with business growth and healthcare digital transformation.
• Establish and enforce architecture standards, principles, and reference architectures for security, consistency and scalability.
• Provide strategic guidance on major technology decisions from solution architecture to enterprise platforms.
• Lead integration and modernization efforts, including APIs, data interoperability, and cloud transformation.
• Monitor industry trends to drive innovation and business value and represent the tech vision externally.
• Partner with business and IT leaders to align architecture with strategic objectives and communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Embed security, compliance, and risk management into all architecture decisions.
• Guide cost-effective architectural decisions to maximize platform reuse and optimize TCO.
• Provide oversight to solution architects to ensure scalable, secure designs; engage early in delivery lifecycle.
• Lead and develop a high-performing architecture team with clear goals and continuous learning.
• Define and track architecture KPIs to demonstrate ROI and business value.
