Job summary

Type One Energy seeks a Director of Engineering in Knoxville, TN. The role leads an engineering organization of 100+ engineers across mechanical, electrical, software, and systems disciplines, reporting to the SVP of Engineering. Focus is on organizational leadership, workforce planning, and leadership development.

You will partner with engineering leaders to ensure staffing, development, and scalable processes support current and future business needs in a complex, ambitious energy program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline required.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience including leadership roles.
• Experience leading organizations with 100+ engineers across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape the engineering organization to enable long-term growth.
• Partner with SVP of Engineering to design scalable organizational structure.
• Develop workforce planning, leadership development, and succession strategies.
• Promote an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture and employee engagement.
