Job summary

Type One Energy in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Director of Engineering to build and sustain a high-performing, cross-disciplinary engineering organization of 100+ engineers across Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems, CAD/Design and Test.

Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, the role focuses on organizational leadership, workforce planning, leadership development, and talent management, while technical decisions rest with engineering leadership and program management.

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive engineering experience.
10+ years of leadership experience.
Experience leading 100+ engineers and technical professionals.
Strong leadership, coaching, and organizational development skills.
Experience with workforce planning and leadership development within engineering organizations.

Responsibilities

Lead an engineering organization of 100+ engineers and technical professionals.
Partner with SVP of Engineering to develop long-term organizational strategy for Engineering.
Drive organizational effectiveness and workforce planning initiatives.
Ensure staffing, development, and structure to meet current and future business needs.
Promote inclusive, high-performance engineering culture.
