Qualifications

• Progressive leadership experience in engineering or facilities within luxury hospitality.
• Deep technical expertise in building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety).
• Experience overseeing large resort/hospitality maintenance operations.
• Proven track record managing capital projects and operating budgets.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and building codes.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to oversee engineering, maintenance, and asset preservation operations for a large-scale resort property in Hawai?i. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a complex operation that supports thousands of owners, guests, and team members in a 24/7 environment. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and proven leadership experience. You will serve as a trusted advisor to resort leadership while leading a high-performing engineering team responsible for maintaining critical building systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, executing capital improvement projects, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.

What You'll Do

• Lead all engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations across the resort.
• Oversee the performance, maintenance, and reliability of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural, and life safety systems.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs that maximize asset life and operational efficiency.
• Direct capital improvement projects, renovations, and asset preservation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety standards, building codes, and quality assurance requirements.
• Manage emergency preparedness, response planning, and business continuity efforts.
• Lead budget planning, forecasting, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Partner with operations and resort leadership to improve energy efficiency, sustainability, and overall facility performance.
• Build, mentor, and develop engineering team members while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to meet operational and financial objectives.
• Support labor relations, workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and performance management initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Progressive leadership experience in engineering, facilities management, or resort/hospitality maintenance operations.
• Strong technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural, and life safety systems.
• Experience leading engineering operations within hotels, resorts, mixed-use properties, hospitals, large commercial facilities, or similar complex environments.
• Proven success managing capital projects, preventative maintenance programs, and operational budgets.
• Strong understanding of OSHA requirements, building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, develop talent, and build strong relationships across departments.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership.
