Job summary

Nbutexas in Louisville, KY is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the engineering and maintenance operations of a large-scale convention hotel.

The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, plus proven ability to manage budgets, capital projects, and a sizable engineering team to deliver safe, well-maintained guest spaces.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering/maintenance experience, preferably in a large hotel or resort.
• Previous Engineering leadership/management experience required.
• Experience with 500+ guest rooms; large convention hotel experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
• Experience managing preventive maintenance programs
• Capital project and renovation experience
• Strong knowledge of fire/life-safety systems, building codes, and regulatory compliance
• Experience leading and developing a large engineering team
• Strong budgeting, vendor, and contractor management experience

Responsibilities

• Oversee all Engineering and Maintenance operations for the property
• Develop and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program
• Ensure guestrooms, meeting spaces, public areas, F&B outlets, and back-of-house areas are properly maintained
• Lead, coach, and develop the Engineering team while maintaining accountability and productivity
• Manage engineering budgets, capital projects, contractors, and vendors
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and building regulations
• Respond to emergency maintenance and building-system issues
• Partner with hotel leadership and other departments to ensure a safe, well‑maintained property and exceptional guest experience
