Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking a Professor of the Practice and Director to lead the new Engineering Design program on the Oakland campus. The role requires building a first-of-its-kind undergraduate engineering program focused on AI fluency, human-centered design, and interdisciplinary systems thinking.

The candidate will develop partnerships, design curricula, and oversee co-op experiences within a self-sustaining model while collaborating with campus leadership to scale the program

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering or closely related field required.
• Demonstrated experience designing, launching, or reforming engineering education programs with experiential or AI-integrated learning.
• Minimum 5 years in academic program leadership, industry partnership management, or workforce development.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual strategic plans for the BS in Engineering Design program.
• Build and manage industry partnerships across project sponsorship, curriculum co-development, and co-op integration.
• Oversee co-op placements and experiential learning initiatives to ensure outcomes.
