Job summary

BNY is seeking a Director, Head of Engineering – Operational Risk to lead engineering strategy, architecture, and delivery for the Operational Risk domain. You will drive scalable platforms, robust controls, and agile execution with an AI-first approach to engineering outcomes.

Lead small, high-performing teams within the Engineering Practice and collaborate with Risk & Compliance Hub to align delivery with enterprise objectives. Strong communication and stakeholder management are essential.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 12+ years of experience in systems analysis and program development with supervisory/management experience.
• Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
• Experience with operational risk management systems, controls, or workflow tooling.
• Strong communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills.

• Design scalable architectures for operational risk controls and monitoring systems.
• Standardize taxonomies for operational risk events and controls.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies and automation frameworks.
• Lead small, agile engineering teams focused on platform outcomes and stability.
