Job summary

Aware Health is seeking a highly-motivated Director of Engineering to lead a fast-paced startup engineering team. You will design, build, and deliver scalable backend systems powered by AI, with hands-on involvement in code and architecture decisions.

You will work with Golang, TypeScript, Python, and a modern cloud stack, guiding infrastructure and development workflows while maintaining high-quality code and AI-driven features.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a software engineer, with 2+ years leading software engineering teams.
• Expertise with Golang, TypeScript, SQL and database schemas.
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs and agentic frameworks.
• Experience managing cloud-based production environments and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software and technology systems across the full stack, with an emphasis on backend and core platform services.
• Lead and mentor a small team of software engineers.
• Manage development lifecycles, release cadence, and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate with product, clinical, customer success, and sales to translate requests into requirements.
• Be hands-on delivering code, technical design, and product features in addition to engineering leadership.
• Build orchestration layers connecting data sources, services, models, and downstream product capabilities.
• Build clean, well-structured GraphQL and RESTful APIs.
• Assist with security compliance and technical safeguards.
• Drive AI automation to amplify humans and improve efficiency.
