POSITION SUMMARY:The Director of Engineering is responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic direction for engineering across Precision Medical Technologies. This role leads engineering initiatives, drives continuous improvement, oversees project execution, and ensures engineering priorities are aligned with shop floor needs, operational goals, quality requirements, and customer expectations. The Director of Engineering will also oversee the continued development and growth of the company’s coating business and capabilities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of position):Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentorship to engineering teams to ensure innovative, high-quality, manufacturable solutions.Lead bi-weekly Continuous Improvement (CI) and Engineering calls to review priorities, project status, improvement opportunities, challenges, and action items across facilities.Oversee development, testing, implementation, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives, customer requirements, quality standards, and manufacturing capabilities.Provide project management leadership for key engineering initiatives, including timelines, ownership, milestones, risks, resources, and on-time completion.Ensure strong alignment between Engineering and the shop floor through regular communication with Operations, Quality, and production teams, prioritizing solutions that improve manufacturability, throughput, quality, safety, and efficiency.Oversee development and growth of the coating business, including technical capability development, process advancement, equipment/resource planning, customer project support, and coordination with Operations and Quality.Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing to reduce waste, improve productivity, increase capacity, and strengthen process consistency.Establish engineering priorities, goals, KPIs, and performance expectations and provide visibility to project progress and department performance.Support new product introduction, process development, process validation, troubleshooting, and manufacturing readiness from concept through production.Partner with Operations and Quality to resolve technical and production issues, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure sustainable improvements.Promote standardization of engineering processes, documentation, best practices, and project management methods across facilities.Evaluate equipment, technology, automation, tooling, and process investments that support manufacturing performance and future growth.Collaborate with Business Development and customer-facing teams to provide technical support for new opportunities, quoting, feasibility reviews, and customer requirements.Develop, coach, and mentor engineering team members while supporting succession planning, professional development, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.Support selection, hiring, onboarding, and development of engineering talent based on current and future organizational needs.Represent Engineering in leadership discussions and communicate technical risks, resource needs, project status, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.Demonstrated engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, resources, and cross-functional projects.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process development, continuous improvement, and production support.Demonstrated ability to connect engineering strategy and priorities with shop floor execution and operational needs.Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence results across multiple departments and facilities.Experience establishing and monitoring KPIs, project milestones, and engineering performance metrics.
