Responsibilities

• Approve the release to production ensuring margins, scrap, labor, overhead costs and BOM meet quotes.
• Lead the team for Molding, Machining, and Assembly operations.
• Establish and communicate goals/expectations; conduct quarterly reviews.
• Drive lean manufacturing initiatives (6S, Visual Factory, Leader Standard Work, A3, VSM).
• Coordinate with engineering and maintenance to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Support Account Manager with quarterly and annual business reviews for customers.
• Develop and implement cost-saving programs to reduce costs.
• Ensure manufacturing activities comply with ISO 13485 and internal systems.

I. JOB PURPOSEThe Director of Manufacturing is responsible to build and lead the team to manufacture products within an ISO 13485 and 21CFR part 820 facility. Manufacturing operations include injection molding, machining, plating, assembly, and miscellaneous secondary manufacturing processes. Team shall focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Meet or exceed company goals for profit, inventory, and KPI’s.II. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESApprove the release to production of specified NPL projects ensuring the actual margin, scrap, labor, overhead costs and the BOM are at or better than quoted.Ensure all commercial and quality issues are resolved to achieve the scheduled timelineEstablish and maintain an effective team to support Molding, Machining, and Assembly operations to achieve current and future business goals.Work to ensure that team positions are identified and Goals/Expectations are communicated to all.Conduct feedback sessions quarterly for goal achievement progressIdentify contingency and back up personnel to all critical to operations positions.Work to inspire and support individual development and growth for all key positions by assessing skills and virtue strengths, and action plans implement for improvement.Manage Molding, Machining, and Sensor Plating operations production output to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost expectations.Goals will be established each year for S, Q, D, C.Work to make sure that production orders are completed and shipped at customer expected quality, on time, and at or below standard defined costs.Address any manufacturing issues as they relate to quality, supply chain issues, and labor that will affect on time deliveries.Direct and hold team accountable to lean manufacturing initiatives.Some Lean tools include: 6s, Visual Factory, Leader Standard Work, A3 Problem solving process, Value Stream Mapping, and root cause analysis.Request support technical resources from engineering and maintenance to resolve any issues in manufacturing.Support all technical issue resolution with analysis of data.Implement solutions that address root cause and eliminate waste.Meet customer satisfaction on quality and work to support improvement activities within the operations.Work with Account Manager to manage Quarterly Business Reviews and Annual Business reviews for selected customer accounts.Develop a cost saving program within the team to identify and delivery annual cost reductions.Cost savings should meet stated goals of implemented and realized cost reductions.Ensure that all manufacturing activities comply with the internal systems based on ISO 13485Maintain and improve project margins through continuous improvement strategies and lean tools.Activity should be ongoing to improve quality, scrap, and lead time.III. JOB QUALIFICATIONS• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Bachelor of Science degree preferred but not required• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to communicate with different stakeholders at differing levels of authority and influence.• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.• 3-5 + years in Operational, Quality or Manufacturing management position is required.• Ability to read, analyze and interpret manufacturing, quality, financial and general business reporting. Ability to generate clear and concise documents, reports, and correspondence. Ability to make presentations to small or large groups of employees, customers, suppliers, public or top management.• Ability to work with mathematical concepts with respect to part geometry, probability and statistics, and financial reports.• ISO 9001 management and implementation experience is desired.
