About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Engineering to drive the maturity of our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and lead engineering managers in delivering high-impact projects. This role is ideal for a strategic, process-driven leader who can align technology execution with business strategy while fostering cross-department collaboration. You will oversee engineering teams (10-20 people) and work closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and Data Engineering to optimize workflows and enhance delivery.
While this is not a hands-on coding role, a strong technical acumen and experience across the full engineering lifecycle are critical. This position requires someone who is proactive, able to stand their ground in discussions, and passionate about optimizing engineering execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Engineering Process Maturity – Oversee and improve SDLC processes, ensuring efficiency in development, review, and deployment.
- Lead & Develop Engineering Managers – Ensure sprint execution, facilitate career growth, and support structured performance reviews.
- Cross-Department Collaboration – Partner with Product, QA, and DevOps to streamline engineering workflows and align technical strategy with business objectives.
- Optimize Delivery – Identify and implement optimal paths for technical and functional success in engineering projects.
- Minimal Coding Involvement – While coding may be required in rare instances, this role is primarily strategic and process-oriented.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles managing engineering managers.
- Strong experience maturing and optimizing SDLC processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to align engineering execution with business strategy and effectively communicate across departments.
- Experience managing 10-20 person teams, ensuring efficient sprint execution and team development.
- Technical background with familiarity in FE/BE development, DevOps, Snowflake, Power BI, and Data Engineering.
- Self-starter mentality – proactive, able to navigate challenges independently, and drive solutions forward.
Nice to Have
- Background in Manufacturing, Logistics, or Supply Chain industries.
- Experience in an entrepreneurial environment, scaling teams and processes.
- Experience with Generative AI use cases in engineering or product development.
