The Role

This role requires a leader who is deeply involved in technical work. You’ll spend most of your time building, reviewing, architecting, and scaling systems. The remaining 20% involves leading and mentoring a talented team of engineers as they grow.

If you’ve been a senior IC or tech lead eager for more impact, or an engineering manager who misses coding, this could be your ideal role.

• Design and review architecture for scalable, fault-tolerant systems
• Write and review code in Ruby, Python, or TypeScript (your choice)
• Optimize performance, latency, and throughput across platforms
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines and distributed systems
• Promote clean code, testing, documentation, and engineering excellence
• Define monitoring, alerting, and automation best practices
• Lead incident response and handle critical situations effectively
• Mentor and develop a team of 7–15 engineers
• Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies to set direction
• Oversee reliability, testing, and quality assurance processes
• Align engineering efforts with business strategies
• Foster a culture of curiosity, feedback, and continuous learning

Requirements:

• 7–12 years of experience in building and scaling complex software systems
• Experience mentoring or managing small engineering teams
• Experience working with distributed systems and data-intensive products
• Proficiency in Ruby, Python, or TypeScript
• Strong commitment to clean code, reliability, and thoughtful engineering
