Director of Institutional Advancement at Seton Hall Prep

ABOUT US: Seton Hall Prep has a rich history beginning in 1856, making it the oldest Catholic college preparatory school in New Jersey.

The Prep educates young men in grades nine through twelve and is administered by priests of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. Our primary goal is the development of the whole man in the values of the Catholic faith; spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.

The Seton Hall Prep community comprises a faculty of 95 men and women and a student body of approximately 975 young men from 130 localities. The Prep welcomes young men of every race, color, religious belief, national and ethnic origin who desire to be contributing members of the school family and to grow along with it. POSITION SUMMARY: This role will expand service delivery, communications, and operational tasks related to the advancement team’s annual revenue generating activity. Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Advancement (DIA), the Director of Engagement will manage a variety of tasks, and initiatives related to donor engagement, donor stewardship, fundraising, event planning, and communications with a primary focus on helping increase philanthropic financial support for Seton Hall Prep. The Director of Engagement’s tasks include, but are not limited to, the coordination of direct mail, telemarketing, monthly giving, email, social media, mobile giving, and online giving, as they relate to the Annual Fund and the development of a continuous pipeline of prospects for major giving.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Manage fundraising activities in conjunction with the DIA that encompasses building current parent, grandparent, faculty (current and retired), staff (current and retired), alumni parent, and alumni participation in Annual Giving.

· Organize and manage to completion a broad variety of administrative and detailed tasks supporting fundraising, online and in-person events, including volunteer management, with an objective to promote donor cultivation, stewardship, engagement, and philanthropy.

· Develop, document, and maintain internal processes and procedures in a team environment for reporting and using Raiser’s Edge.

· Manage regular analysis and reporting of programs and development efforts comparing projections verse actuals for quantities, expenses, and revenue for dissemination to senior school leadership.

· Manage collaboration with staff to integrate fundraising goals in all fundraising and marketing activities.

· Help maintain and promote physical and electronic communication materials, including brochures, annual reports, and web landing pages.

· Manage initiatives within annual giving and donor relations area, from initial planning and coordination stages to implementation and follow-through.

· Support the major gifts program understanding that Annual Fund giving is a pipeline to major gifts. Identify prospects for contact by the Director of Institutional Advancement.

· Conduct prospect research utilizing available tools including Raiser’s Edge Wealth Analysis and Research Point.

· Maintain accurate donor relationship records adding notes on meetings, general contact, conversations, fundraising and engagement activity, including direct mail solicitations, in Raisers Edge NXT and Database versions.

· The Director of Engagement will seek out professional development opportunities that provide personal growth and exposure as well as improve school results.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a nonprofit fundraising environment.

· Commitment to the mission and vision of Seton Hall Prep; understanding of nonprofit sector and fundraising.

· Positive people-centered way of interacting with a wide array of constituents and stakeholders.

· Able to interact with stakeholders with both enthusiasm and passion for SHP’s mission.

· Desire to grow professionally and broaden horizons.

· Maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction with existing donors.

· Exceptional ability to think creatively and unconventionally/see things from different perspectives.

· Thrive in a fast-paced, creative, and ever-evolving environment.

· Exceptional skills in managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.

· Ability to work both collaboratively as well as independently while meeting deadlines.

· Adherence to the highest level of ethical standards in communication with external stakeholders.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.

· Demonstrated experience with fundraising databases and platforms or a willingness to learn.

· Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in matters pertaining to donors and SHP.

· Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.

COMPENSATION: The salary for this position depends on the candidate’s experience and skills. This is a full-time, in-office position with benefits, including health, dental, vision, paid time off, holidays and life insurance.
