The ideal candidate holds a BSN, prefers a Master's degree, and has 3+ years of recent ED leadership experience at a large trauma center, with strong skills in staffing, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily ED operations, staffing, patient flow and resource utilization.
• Lead quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance and patient experience initiatives.
• Manage department budgets, productivity, staffing plans and operating expenses.
• Recruit, develop, coach and retain nursing and clinical staff.
• Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership to improve clinical outcomes and operational performance.
• Ensure staffing, clinical competencies and adherence to standards of care.

Salary: $160,000–$180,000 annually

Incentive Bonus: 17.5%–26.25%

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead emergency department operations at a large, 457-bed acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and Level III NICU.

The department provides adult emergency care, with approximately 175–200 patient visits daily, 40 care spaces, and a team of approximately 80–85 FTEs. This role reports to the VP of Emergency Services.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily emergency department operations, staffing, patient flow, and resource utilization.
• Lead quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and patient experience initiatives.
• Manage department budgets, productivity, staffing plans, and operating expenses.
• Recruit, develop, coach, and retain nursing and clinical staff.
• Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership to improve clinical outcomes and operational performance.
• Ensure appropriate staffing, clinical competencies, and adherence to established standards of care.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of recent experience within the past year as an ED Director or ED Manager in a large Level I or Level II Trauma Center.
• Strong leadership experience in emergency department operations, staff management, quality, and budgeting.
