Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC seeks a Director Electrical BOP Engineering, Operations to lead a high‑voltage engineering team for renewable generation assets in the U.S. You will set long‑term fleet reliability strategies, ensure NERC/FERC compliance, and build a top‑performing team focused on BOP infrastructure across transformers, substations, and control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in Electrical Engineering (EE) required or equivalent HV power experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• 11+ years in electrical operations, asset management, or design (3+ years leading a team).
• HV/EHV and grid interconnection experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC, NESC, OSHA.
• Familiarity with NERC standards.
• Experience with modeling tools PSSE/PSLF/PSCAD/TSAT/ETAP is a plus.
• Strong executive presence and owner-operator mindset.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering vision, standards, and goals across the renewable fleet.
• Shape multiyear investment plans for substation upgrades and compliance readiness.
• Oversee NERC/FERC audit preparation and documentation rigor.
• Define org structure, span of control, and career paths for Electrical BOP.
• Represent engineering to executive leadership and align with Asset Management.
• Evaluate adoption of new engineering tools and modeling platforms.
• Assess electrical risk and integration for acquired sites; standardize onboarding procedures.
• Define thresholds for technical sign‑off, model review, and restoration support.
• Lead RCA investigations and major failure recovery for critical fleet assets.
• Oversee relationships with OEMs, consultants, and testing contractors; establish specs and QC guidelines.
