Job summary

Central City Opera seeks a Director of Development to lead the annual fund, manage donor relationships, and grow a robust pipeline of supporters for its Colorado-based festival and operations.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, this role oversees events, grants, and the donor database, while supervising the Development Associate and Special Events Manager. Evening/weekend availability is required to support fundraising activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education;
• 5–7 years of fundraising or development experience, with demonstrated success in annual giving and/or special events;
• Experience managing volunteer committees and large-scale fundraising events;
• Demonstrated experience supervising employees, managing projects, or leading teams.
• Proficiency with Raiser's Edge NXT or other CRM/donor database software; Spektrix a plus;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint;
• Passion for opera and the arts strongly preferred;
• Must be available to work evening/weekend events as required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate CCO's annual fund program and meet revenue goals.
• Identify, cultivate, and upgrade annual fund donors with major-gift potential.
• Strategize and produce fundraising appeals throughout the year and coordinate solicitations.
• Oversee donor membership and benefit levels, acknowledgments, and gift letters.
• Upgrade annual fund donors to major gifts and coordinate with senior leadership.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Box Office, and Patron Services to expand donor network.
