Job summary

ACLD is seeking a Director of Development to provide strategic leadership for fundraising, donor relations, marketing, and development initiatives. The role oversees planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure philanthropic support and advance the organization’s mission.

The role requires collaborating with the Board, volunteers, and staff to strengthen fundraising, manage events, and enhance community engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred in a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive fundraising or business development experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of management and supervisory experience; Five years or more preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee comprehensive fundraising strategies across annual giving, major gifts, campaigns, and grants.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and funding partners in partnership with the Board and volunteers.
• Lead planning and execution of fundraising events, donor recognition, and community engagement initiatives.
• Direct integrated marketing, communications, digital media, and media relations strategies; act as a brand ambassador.
• Recruit, develop, and supervise Development staff; manage budgets, donor data, and operational processes.
• Support implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and cultivate community partnerships.

Director of Development is responsible for providing strategic leadership for all fundraising, donor relations, marketing, communications, special events, and development initiatives. This position oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive fundraising strategies designed to secure philanthropic support, strengthen community engagement, and advance the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, direct mail, and grant development; cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and funding partners.
• Partner with the Board of Directors and volunteers to strengthen fundraising efforts, recruit and engage committee members, and support Board development and stewardship.
• Lead the planning and execution of fundraising, donor recognition, community engagement, and organizational events that advance awareness, relationships, and philanthropic support.
• Direct integrated marketing, communications, digital, social media, and media relations strategies; serve as a spokesperson and brand ambassador to enhance organizational visibility and engagement.
• Recruit, develop, and supervise Development staff; oversee departmental budgets, revenue, expenses, donor data integrity, website content, and operational effectiveness.
• Support implementation and measurement of the organization’s strategic plan, lead internal engagement initiatives, and cultivate community partnerships that advance the organization’s mission and priorities.

We require:
