About The Role

The Director of Development (DD) serves as a senior strategic leader responsible for advancing El Programa Hispano Católico’s fundraising growth, revenue diversification, and public narrative during a critical period of organizational strengthening and preparation for future expansion.

As EPHC deepens its fundraising infrastructure and reduces reliance on government funding, the DD will design and lead a comprehensive development strategy that strengthens individual giving, institutional grants, corporate partnerships, major gifts, and unrestricted revenue. This role also oversees alignment between fundraising, communications, and community storytelling to ensure that EPHC’s mission, impact, and culturally grounded values are consistently reflected in donor engagement and public messaging.

The DD plays a central role in building internal fundraising capacity, strengthening systems (including CRM optimization), increasing unrestricted revenue, and laying the groundwork for long-term sustainability — including reserve growth and preparation for a future capital campaign.

This position reports to the Executive Director, serves on the Executive Leadership Team, and works closely with the Board of Directors, senior staff, and external partners.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Fund Development & Revenue Diversification (30%)
  • Lead and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities and financial sustainability goals.
  • Strengthen revenue diversification from heavy reliance on local and state government funding by expanding individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and general operating grant support.
  • Priority growth areas include major donor cultivation, multi-year foundation investments, corporate sponsorships, and planned giving to reduce reliance on any single funding stream.
  • Oversee institutional grant strategy, ensuring strong funder relationships, alignment with program priorities, and compliance.
  • Monitor revenue forecasts and funding trends, proactively identifying opportunities and risks.
Major Gifts & Donor Engagement (20%)
  • Develop and steward relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Strengthen donor segmentation and engagement strategies to increase retention and lifetime value.
  • Support the development of planned giving and long-term philanthropic investment strategies.
  • Ensure excellence in donor stewardship, acknowledgment, and relationship management.
Communications & Storytelling Alignment (15%)
  • Provide strategic oversight of development-related communications in partnership with Communications staff.
  • Elevate community voice through testimonials, impact reporting, and culturally grounded storytelling.
  • Ensure messaging across appeals, reports, campaigns, and events align with the organizational values and equity commitments.
  • Strengthen digital and print communications to increase visibility, engagement, and donor connection.
Events & Campaign Leadership (15%)
  • Provide strategic directions for signature fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Ensure events support long-term relationship building and unrestricted revenue growth.
  • Align campaign messaging and engagement strategies across teams.
Leadership & Board Engagement (10%)
  • Supervise the Development and Communication specialist and coordinate consultants to achieve revenue and engagement goals.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy across departments, integrating fundraising into program planning and storytelling.
  • Partner with and support the Board of Directors in fundraising participation and engagement.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Development/Fundraising Committee.
Systems, Infrastructure & Sustainability (10%)
  • Strengthen fundraising systems, including CRM optimization and reporting tools.
  • Monitor revenue performance, funding trends, and donor engagement metrics to inform strategy, proactively identify opportunities and risks, and ensure consistent progress toward fundraising goals.
  • Ensure legal compliance and adherence to ethical fundraising standards.
  • Contribute to long-term financial sustainability efforts, including reserve growth and preparation for future capital expansion initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of senior management experience with increasing levels of responsibility, ideally including direct support of a Board of Directors.
  • A minimum of 2 years of general fundraising experience with individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • A minimum of 1 year of grant writing experience.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and operate strategically, to build public support, to strengthen infrastructure, to inspire donors, staff, and the Board of Directors, and to develop effective development programs.
  • Veritus Major gifts fundraiser certification, or similar, preferred
  • Certified grant management specialist or similar, preferred
  • Documented experience and quantifiable success in key development strategies, including donor segmentation, research, and cultivation.
  • Documented experience building teams, updating systems, and growing development strategies
  • Exceptional financial, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing; excellent public speaking skills; adept at writing proposals, solicitation letters, donor correspondence, and other fundraising materials.
  • Experience with development software programs; Salesforce experience preferred.
Compensation

$115,000-$125,000 annually. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
