Job summary

Fitch Irick seeks a Director of Design & Construction to lead the in‑house design and construction efforts for a growing affordable housing pipeline in Charlotte, NC. You will establish standards, recruit and mentor a project management team, and drive designs from concept through close‑out.

The role requires a licensed architect with 10+ years in multifamily housing, strong leadership, and a track record of coordinating with developers, funders, and public agencies to meet budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• Licensed Architect in good standing in NC/SC or able to obtain licensure promptly.
• NCARB Certification holder or eligible for reciprocal licensure.
• 10+ years in architecture/construction or owner‑side project management.
• Experience leading design and construction for multifamily housing (garden‑style, mid‑rise, wrap).
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the design and construction phases of the development portfolio.
• Establish and maintain design, construction, and project management standards across all projects.
• Grow the pipeline from ~1,000 to 2,500 units delivered annually.
• Oversee design teams, consultants, and relationships with architects/engineers.
