Job summary

GitLab Inc. is seeking a Director of Data Science to lead the Product, Sales, and Finance Data Science teams, reporting to the VP of Data & Insights. You will shape strategy, align data work with product innovation, GTM growth, and consumption, and build a high-performing team of 12.

You’ll define standards for measurement, causal inference, and AI usage, coach managers and senior ICs, and partner with Analytics and Data Engineering to drive data-driven decisions at the executive level.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in data science, product analytics, or related field.
• 6+ years leading teams and 3+ years managing managers in B2B SaaS or tech.
• Track record of building scalable analytics organizations.
• Strong business acumen across product and go-to-market, with revenue growth experience.
• Executive presence: communicates complex findings to the C-suite.
• Deep expertise in statistics, experimentation, and causal inference; proficient in SQL, Python, ML.
• Thought leadership in AI shaping data science, and experience guiding teams through AI shifts.
• Able to work in a fully remote, asynchronous company and align with GitLab's values.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with executives across Product, Finance, and GTM.
• Own investment and prioritization across teams.
• Lead cross-functional programs driving product adoption and consumption growth.
• Coach and mentor managers and senior ICs to grow as leaders.
• Set org-wide standards for metric definition, causal inference, and AI usage.
• Partner with Analytics Engineering and Data Engineering to pursue data opportunities.
