Job summary

Benning Construction seeks a Director of Construction – Office Buildouts to lead growth in Atlanta's office interiors market. You will leverage your existing client relationships to open doors, close deals, and deliver projects that exceed client expectations.

You'll oversee the full lifecycle from sales through planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution; mentor project teams; enforce safety and quality; and drive innovation in methods and sustainability across job sites.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of progressive construction management experience.
• At least 5 years in office buildouts or commercial interiors.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Proven track record delivering complex, multi-floor projects on time and within budget.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and MS Project or similar.

Director of Construction – Office Buildouts

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As Director of Construction, you’ll be the driving force behind our growth in the office buildout market. You’ll leverage your existing client relationships to open doors, close deals, and deliver projects that exceed expectations. Your expertise will help us expand our footprint, strengthen our reputation, and create spaces that leave a lasting impression on every client.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leverage your existing network of developers, brokers, and corporate decision-makers to generate new opportunities.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of office build-out projects—sales, planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
• Lead and mentor project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to deliver exceptional results.
• Implement and enforce safety, quality, and compliance standards across all job sites.
• Leverage project management tools to track progress and communicate updates.
• Drive innovation in construction methods, materials, and sustainability practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in construction related field (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, etc.) or commensurate experience
• A strong, active network of clients and industry contacts you can bring to the table.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivation and a results-driven mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• 10+ years of progressive construction management experience, with at least 5 years in office buildouts or commercial interiors.
• Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-floor projects on time and within budget.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and commercial construction best practices.
• Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or similar).
