Job summary

CarGurus in Boston seeks a Director of Compensation to design and scale our base pay, incentives, and equity programs. You will lead a small team and partner with Finance, Legal, Payroll, and People & Talent to ensure competitive, equitable, and compliant compensation.

You'll drive market benchmarking, refine the compensation philosophy, and oversee annual merit, bonus, and equity cycles, delivering clear, data-driven advice to executives.

Qualifications

• 12-15+ years of progressive experience in compensation.
• 4-6 years in a leadership role.
• Experience shaping compensation programs in a tech environment.
• Strong equity plan administration and regulatory compliance knowledge.
• Experience supporting executive compensation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, strategy, governance of base pay, incentives, equity, and long-term plans.
• Refine compensation philosophy to align with priorities and market trends.
• Conduct ongoing market benchmarking to stay competitive.
• Ensure wage-and-hour regulatory compliance and plan requirements.
