Job summary

National Audubon Society is seeking a Director, Community Building to lead regional efforts in Arizona and New Mexico, coordinating with Audubon centers in Santa Fe and Phoenix. The role focuses on education, outreach, capacity-building and expanding the Audubon network within diverse communities.

You will collaborate with policy and habitat teams, drive partnerships with schools and tribal entities, and guide senior leadership on program strategy while supporting fundraising and donor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, environmental education or related area; 10 years’ experience preferred.
• Experience in environmental/outdoor education programs and New Mexico and Arizona context preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and collaborative skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of community-building strategy in AZ/NM; engage chapters and partners.
• Provide strategic guidance across community building, policy, and habitat programs.
• Hire, mentor and supervise education and engagement teams and volunteers.
• Oversee center programming in Santa Fe and Phoenix; track milestones and outcomes.
• Build partnerships with organizations, schools, tribes, and agencies; diversify communities served.
