Job summary

Philanthropy New York is seeking a Director of Communications to lead external communications and enhance member engagement. The role focuses on crafting messaging that reflects our vision and values, and building capacity across the communications function.

As part of the Management Team, you will help steward organizational culture, participate in annual planning, and advance racial equity commitments in our work while coordinating across departments to align messaging and relationships.

Qualifications

• The Director of Communications leads external communications efforts to strengthen Philanthropy New York’s engagement with its members.
• crafts messaging that amplifies and aligns with PNY’s vision, mission and values, and builds the organization’s communications capacity.
• As a member of the Philanthropy New York Management Team, responsible for stewarding organizational culture, collaborating on annual planning and organizational learning and evaluation processes, supporting the development and implementation of racial equity commitments into the core work of the organization, and aligning relationships across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead external communications efforts to strengthen member engagement.
• Craft messaging aligned with the organization’s vision, mission and values.
• Build and strengthen the organization’s communications capacity.
• Participate in management-team activities including planning, learning and evaluation.
• Support racial equity commitments within core programs and operations.
• Align cross-team relationships for cohesive communications.
