Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ is seeking a Director-level Principal Scientist to lead planning and direction of clinical research for Atherosclerosis & Metabolism medicines.

The role oversees late-stage development, trial design, execution, analysis and regulatory reporting, with collaboration across regulatory, statistics and manufacturing teams. The Director will manage a full development cycle, including external collaborations, investigator engagement, and cross-functional alignment.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with industry or senior academic experience.
• Strong clinical medicine background and biomedical research track record.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan clinical trials and development strategies for Atherosclerosis & Metabolism programs.
• Monitor ongoing trials, analyze data, and prepare regulatory documents and publications.
• Collaborate with clinical scientists, regulatory, statistics, and manufacturing to drive development.
