Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ, seeks a Senior Director, Clinical Science, Oncology Early Development to provide strategic leadership across multiple early oncology assets.

You will shape development plans, integrate translational and biomarker data, and guide data-driven decisions across candidates from transition to first-in-human and proof-of-concept. You will lead a team of Clinical Scientists, drive standardization of practices, and collaborate with Regulatory, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs,

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required (PhD/PharmD) with extensive experience in pharmaceutical/clinical drug development.
• Experience leading first-in-human and early-phase oncology studies.
• Deep knowledge of oncology biology, translational medicine, biomarkers, and PK/PD.
• Strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and scientific judgment in a matrix environment.

Responsabilités

• Provide strategic Clinical Science leadership across Oncology Early Development programs and assets.
• Shape early development strategy, dose escalation, cohort expansion, and proof-of-concept planning.
• Standardize Clinical Science practices and ensure inspection readiness across the portfolio.
• Lead and develop Clinical Scientists, coaching and setting high performance standards.
• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, Translational Medicine, and other partners.
