Job summary

MIT Climate Policy Center at the Sloan School of Management seeks a Director of Policy & Engagement to lead policy-relevant research and identify opportunities aligned with policymakers' needs in federal, state, and local arenas.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the role directs proactive policy engagement, ensures effective external communications, and oversees reports, briefs, and other knowledge products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least seven years of relevant experience.
• Experience in program/project management, policy development, or policy advisory roles.
• Strong writing and analytical capabilities; excellent project management.
• Experience with federal and/or state government relations and policy communications.
• Preferred: local and international policy experience; Master’s or Doctoral degree in natural sciences, social sciences, economics, or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Direct proactive and responsive policy engagement and shape policy-relevant research.
• Ensure effective external communications and oversee reports, briefs, and knowledge products.
• Coordinate activities with research, communications, and program teams and affiliated faculty.
• Enhance visibility of policy-relevant work and ensure timely, high-quality outputs that advance MIT’s policy impact.
