Job summary

The Valley of the Sun YMCA is seeking a Program Director of Childcare in Arizona to oversee preschool and school-age programs, ensuring high-quality curriculum and operations while expanding services to meet community needs.

You will lead staff, manage budgets, ensure licensing compliance, recruit diverse teams, and build community partnerships, all within safety and risk-management guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• One to two years related experience preferred.
• Minimum age of 21.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Clear or acceptable Motor Vehicle Record that meets YMCA standards.
• Ability to pass a drug screening.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

• Oversees management of preschool and/or school-age childcare programs, including developing and monitoring program operations, curriculum, alignment to high-quality standards and best practices.
• Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteers; onboards and develops them for success.
• Manages staff schedules, payroll, performance and coordinates human resource needs with the MSO.
• Supports program and staff compliance to safety standards, risk management and child abuse prevention policies.
• Monitors program deliverables and budget; compiles statistics to evaluate effectiveness and participation; completes grant reports.
• Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations and communicates clearly within the area.
• Ensures licensing compliance with AZ Department of Health Services and Department of Economic Services.
• May serve as branch Transportation Coordinator and fill in as bus driver when needed.
• Adheres to policies related to boundaries with consumers; attends abuse risk management training.
