Job summary

The University of Miami Health System seeks a Director of Clinical Documentation Improvement to lead the CDI program, align with system goals, and ensure accurate reflection of patient status in medical records. You will mentor staff, provide specialty education to physicians, and collaborate with leadership to drive improvements.

You will develop annual workplans, monitor performance, and report progress to the AVP of Clinical Care Transformation, CMO, CFO, and quality leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Informatics, Nursing, Leadership, Education, or related field.
• Master’s degree is highly preferred.
• Experience in hospital CDI programs and leadership roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify CDI issues and communicate with physicians, nurses, coding and health team members.
• Provide educational support and development for CDI staff.
• Develop annual CDI workplans aligned with system initiatives and report outcomes to leadership.
• Mentor CDI team and provide ongoing education to physicians and service lines.
• Monitor CDI performance, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
