Job summary

Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma seeks a Director of Mental Health to lead Counseling and Healing ministries, build and supervise a high-quality team of counselors, and establish a strong local network of Catholic mental health professionals.

The role ensures mission-aligned, clinically sound, spiritually sensitive services, with regular reporting on outcomes, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Flexible leadership responsibilities include staff development and program expansion.

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field.
• Current and appropriate professional licensure (LPC-S, LMFT-S, or LCSW).
• Experience supervising, leading, or managing mental health professionals.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to support and advance the organization’s Catholic mission, values, and approach to service.
• Recommendation letter from parish priest.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate counselors and other mental health team members.
• Provide regular individual and group supervision, coaching, and professional development.
• Establish expectations for performance, professional conduct, documentation, communication, and service delivery.
• Promote a collaborative, healthy, accountable, and mission-centered team culture.
• Identify staffing needs and implement strategies to improve retention, engagement, and long-term team stability.
• Address performance concerns and support corrective action when necessary.
• Develop and maintain a strong local and regional network of Catholic counselors and professionals.
• Create opportunities for networking, referral relationships, and shared learning.
• Oversee clinical risk management, including crisis protocols and care coordination.
• Maintain a small caseload of counseling clients.
• Collaborate with Catholic Charities programs to serve internal clients.
