What is different today?

  • Operators want to control their data, control their analytics, tweak/change calculations per site, automate workflow, and be able to build "no code" analytics without the need of a data scientist or a developer.
  • Every prospect we talk to today is trying to replace their traditional monitoring solution.
  • Every prospect cannot get the Advanced Analytics capabilities they expect while also being able to do more on their own.

Why?

  • No control, can't get the customization, terrible workflow for their users, and horrible customer service.
  • The blackbox no longer works.

As the industry has matured, Operators expect an "in-house" solution that gives them maximize self-service capabilities, the ability to change/tweak immediately, and easy to leverage customization for reports, dashboards, workflow, and analytics - at their finger tips.

The International Energy Agency calculated that global energy investments exceeded $3 trillion for the first time, with a record-breaking $2 trillion (or almost 70%) flowing into renewables, EVs, and nuclear power.

We are currently look for the "best" Sales Executives selling and working with Renewable Operators today.

Please only apply if your experience comes from selling software directly to Renewables Operators today. Candidates need to have a track record of top quota achievement over a multi-year timeframe selling a SaaS solution directly to Renewable Energy operators - specifically, asset managers and performance engineering teams. Other direct non-Renewable experience will not be considered.

Job Description

We are looking for the best 2-5 extremely motivated and provenDirector of Business Development

(US & UK - remote preferred, with focus on US - first) to join our expanding team of exceptional contributors. This role is focused on amplifying our acquisition and delivery of NarrativeWave SaaS subscriptions and use cases to impact Renewable Energy operators.

TheDirector of Business Development role(s) will participate in our next stage of growth by providing a self-service SaaS solution needed by energy operators while providing you with an incredible opportunity for both financial and career growth. You will be responsible for selling the NarrativeWave’s solution to prospects in our existing Renewable Energy segments. You will partner closely with your Client Engineering, Client Success, Data Science, and Management team peers to create, qualify, and close new annual subscriptions while owning the sales process.The target audience and constituents for NarrativeWave are the Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Asset Management, Performance Engineering, and IT teams that use our software to improve their operations, automate daily workflow, and solve critical business use cases that impact our client's engineers, their assets, and their bottomline.

As an individual contributor, theDirector of Business Development, will have direct industry experience selling to energy operators and the personas listed above. The following attributes are required:

  • A strong understanding and a track record selling and working with Renewable Operators.
  • Direct experience working, selling, and benefitting the Asset Management and Performance Engineering teams of Renewable Operators.
  • Software experience selling and partnering with Renewable Operators and these personas, prerequisite.
  • Lead/manage all sales opportunities in your defined account base.
  • Team-based selling experience and success with internal Client Success, Data Engineering, Data Science, and management teams to impact our future clients.
  • A consummate team collaborator as NW is a team sales/partnership approach.
  • Quick learner with strong consultative skills that can gain the confidence and respect of engineers and prospective clients.
  • Becoming immediately proficient at demoing the NW platform.
  • A technical background with or at Renewable Operators, is a signficant advantage.
  • Self-starter as far as lead generation, strategic selling, precise communication, and targeted presentations.

Objectives of this role:

  • Represent NarrativeWave by developing a comprehensive understanding of our product offerings, renewable energy operator prospects/market, and articulate the value proposition to impact our prospective customers.
  • Meet quarterly and annual sales quotas through sales/revenue execution.
  • Be the Quarterback in driving new sales and managing the sales process with critical internal team members.
  • Understand the buying dynamics of the Renewable Energy industry.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and close new clients that exceed revenue and quota targets annually.
  • Outbound prospecting for new sales opportunities through all lead generation tools.
  • Superior presentation and demo expertise while being leveraging a consultative approach with prospects.
  • Work closely with your NarrativeWave peers on outbound sales priorities, targets, sales strategies, and pipeline management to further accelerate our growth.
  • Conduct prospect conversations articulating NarrativeWave’s solution, value proposition, and client qualification.
  • Actively develop, nurture and maintain a sales pipeline, through active and tracked outreach.
  • Manage, track and input daily on all sales activity in the CRM.
  • Be able to concisely present your pipeline to management and peers on a weekly basis.
  • Become an SME of NarrativeWave’s solution, industry trends, and competition.
  • Leverage internal resources within the NarrativeWave teams that include Client Engineering, Client Success, Data Science, and management on a daily basis to execute the acquisition of new clients and client expansion opportunities.

What you bring to the role:

  • Personal integrity; ability to balance persuasion with professionalism.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, engineering degree is preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of software sales experience and/or sales engineering experience in software sales, specifically to Renewable Energy operators and our core personas of performance engineers, asset mgrs, and their senior management.
  • Strong technical aptitude, ability to learn new concepts quickly, explain complex information simply, focused execution on our Renewable Energy packages, and a consultative approach to solve problems.
  • Strong prospecting skills including outbound cold calling, email, social media, conferences, and LinkedIn.
  • Track record of annual sales quota overachievement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a team first attitude.
  • Strong time management skills, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and follow through executing all tasks.
  • Consummate team collaborator leveraging internal resources to solve use cases to impact customers.
  • Prior experience using a CRM and pipeline management is required.

What will set you apart:

  • Experience in selling SaaS and/or software solutions EXACTLY to our existing Renewable Operator customers/prospects & personas, having previously sold other monitoring or Asset Management solutions.
  • Performance Engineering, Asset Manager, or O&M role at an operator.
  • Sales Engineering experience at another software company working with Renewable Energy operators.
  • Experience working in or working with the Operations & Maintenance, Asset Mgmt, and Performance Engineering teams with energy operators.
  • Familiarity with SaaS, Cloud and Enterprise Software solutions.
  • Knowledge of analytics, APM solutions, traditional monitoring solutions in Renewables, and SCADA systems.
