Director of Business Development – Marine & Port Facilities
This role drives our growth as the premier delivery partner for port authorities, terminal operators, and waterfront industrial clients. As a nimble, privately owned contractor, we offer the agility, financial backing, and direct executive access needed to pursue, shape, and win complex marine infrastructure, berth construction, deep foundations, and terminal development projects. Success is measured by a high-performing marine pipeline, disciplined pursuits, and securing projects that leverage our specialized fleet and self-perform capabilities.
Performance Objectives
- Targeted Terminal & Port Pipeline: Build and manage a qualified pipeline across port authorities, private terminal operators (bulk, container, liquid, LNG), and marine engineering partners across target coastal and inland corridors.
- Marine Pursuit Strategy: Lead pursuit strategies for major waterfront projects—guiding go/no-go decisions, joint ventures, and equipment allocation (barges, heavy marine cranes, pile driving fleets) with win themes centered on water-borne execution.
- Owner & Port Relationships: Convert relationships with port directors, asset managers, and marine engineers into invited bids, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), and negotiated EPC or Design-Build contracts.
- Operational & Environmental Risk: Align proposals with marine ops, engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure scope accounts for tidal/depth constraints, environmental permitting windows, and river-stage exposure.
- Pipeline Forecasting: Maintain pursuit visibility for private executive leadership to evaluate probability, margin risk, marine fleet utilization, and resource commitments early in the pursuit cycle.
Environment & Resources
Reporting to executive leadership within our privately held organization, you will work directly alongside marine operations, engineering, estimating, and fabrication leads. You will have a defined pursuit budget, established CRM platforms, and direct access to company principals who can rapidly commit fleet assets and capital to winning strategies without corporate red tape.
Essential Qualifications

- Industry Network: Strong relationships across port authorities, terminal operators, energy/petrochemical owners, and maritime engineering firms.
- Technical Scope Familiarity: Deep understanding of driven/drilled piling over water, sheet pile bulkheads, combi-walls, dolphins, cellular cofferdams, dock rehabs, and terminal civil integration.
- Operational Insight: Ability to assess pursuits through an operational lens—evaluating marine logistics, equipment availability, and environmental windows.
