Lead strategic business development and growth initiatives within the U.S. Navy defense market, focusing on advanced modeling, simulation, and military training solutions. In this role, you will identify emerging opportunities, cultivate relationships with Navy stakeholders, and shape competitive pursuits that support operational readiness, mission rehearsal, testing, and training requirements. You will work closely with senior leadership, government customers, industry partners, and internal technical teams to align capabilities with evolving defense priorities. Your expertise in defense acquisition processes, capture strategy, and customer engagement will help expand the organization’s market presence and strengthen its position on strategic opportunities. This role combines long-term growth planning with hands-on opportunity development, proposal support, and relationship management. The position offers a remote working arrangement, with travel as needed to engage customers, attend industry events, and support business development activities. An active Department of Defense Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility are required.

Accountabilities
  • Drive strategic growth: Develop and execute business development strategies to expand the customer base and grow the qualified opportunity pipeline across U.S. Navy modeling, simulation, and training markets.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities: Monitor government program announcements, industry briefings, acquisition activities, and emerging mission requirements to identify and assess new business opportunities.
  • Shape strategic pursuits: Engage early in opportunity development, align organizational capabilities with customer needs, and strengthen competitive positioning throughout the capture process.
  • Build customer relationships: Develop and maintain trusted relationships with Navy acquisition offices, operational and training communities, government stakeholders, industry partners, and internal teams.
  • Support capture management: Contribute to pursuit planning, capture strategies, proposal development, and opportunity reviews from early qualification through contract award.
  • Develop sales strategies: Create and implement commercial strategies for defense products and services that support organizational growth objectives and evolving market needs.
  • Coordinate channel and partner strategies: Work with senior leadership to develop distribution and industry partnership strategies and support the transition from business development to program execution.
  • Present technical solutions: Deliver compelling product demonstrations, briefings, and presentations that communicate the value of modeling, simulation, and training solutions to defense customers.
  • Support proposals and pricing: Coordinate the preparation, review, and updating of rough orders of magnitude (ROMs), quotes, and proposals with relevant internal departments.
  • Strengthen market visibility: Represent the organization at defense industry conferences, trade shows, workshops, webinars, and other professional events.
  • Contribute to marketing initiatives: Help develop white papers, marketing collateral, and technical communications that demonstrate solution capabilities and address customer priorities.
  • Maintain business development records: Keep Salesforce records accurate and current to support pipeline visibility, forecasting, reporting, and coordinated execution.
  • Measure and optimize performance: Monitor business development outcomes, identify gaps against targets, evaluate competitive developments, and recommend adjustments to improve results.
  • Collaborate across the organization: Partner with business development, marketing, technical, and program teams to coordinate activities and deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Support additional initiatives: Contribute to special projects and other business development priorities as assigned.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred in Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in defense-sector business development, capture support, account management, or growth strategy.
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success in U.S. defense business development or sales, specifically involving Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training, Command and Control (C2), Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), or closely related domains.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. Navy or broader Department of Defense (DoD) customers.
  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation, military training, testing, mission rehearsal, operational readiness, or related defense environments.
  • Understanding of U.S. Navy organizational structures, acquisition processes, government funding cycles, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Proven ability to identify, qualify, and shape opportunities and support strategic capture efforts from early engagement through award.
  • Strong strategic planning, competitive analysis, sales strategy, and business development skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop technical proposals, white papers, and persuasive customer-facing materials.
  • Outstanding presentation and public speaking abilities, including the confidence to engage senior military, government, and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with customer relationship management systems, capture management, proposal development, or formal proposal review processes is desirable.
