Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Brand based in the United States.

As the first Director of Brand, you will shape how a mission-driven digital healthcare organization builds trust with patients, communities, and partners. You will lead brand strategy, creative direction, content, and storytelling across the full customer journey, turning a refreshed identity and messaging platform into a cohesive, scalable brand system. This builder role combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution, offering the opportunity to develop a high‑performing team and trusted external partnerships. You will establish a clear approach to brand investment, measurement, and continuous learning while delivering compelling campaigns and community activations. Working closely with growth, communications, product, clinical, and commercial leaders, you will help differentiate the organization in a complex and sensitive healthcare landscape. You will also use AI thoughtfully to improve creative efficiency while preserving accuracy, authenticity, and human judgment.

Accountabilities
  • Own brand positioning, visual identity, brand voice, and editorial direction across the full customer journey.
  • Lead and develop the brand, creative, and content team by setting priorities, providing clear direction, and managing external designers, agencies, and production partners.
  • Build a trust-centered content strategy featuring patient, peer, and clinician stories, reviews, social proof, owned content, creator programs, and compliant distribution plans.
  • Manage the brand portfolio through clear strategic objectives, activation plans, disciplined budgeting, measurement frameworks, and renewal criteria for significant investments.
  • Turn brand guidelines and messaging into practical creative systems, including templates, channel guidance, campaign frameworks, art direction, and self‑service standards.
  • Direct creative strategy and production for brand launches, community partnerships, sponsorships, executive platforms, website initiatives, and priority campaigns.
  • Apply AI responsibly to improve speed and consistency while protecting clinical accuracy, brand voice, and human judgment.
  • Collaborate across communications, product, clinical, commercial, and growth teams to ensure brand initiatives support organizational goals and build audience trust.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in consumer brand, creative, content, or integrated marketing leadership, including management of an internal team and external partners.
  • Exceptional creative judgment across brand identity, campaigns, editorial content, social‑first video, web experiences, and sensitive storytelling.
  • Proven ability to direct creative production and deliver high‑quality work with a lean team and constrained budgets.
  • Strong operational and organizational skills, including writing effective briefs, prioritizing work, managing budgets and vendors, and reporting on outcomes.
  • Experience developing creator, community, or customer‑story programs, with a strong understanding of editorial trust, consent, and responsible storytelling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI tools and sound judgment about where automation can add value.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, advocacy, or another regulated or emotionally complex sector is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Frame.io, Air, or comparable creative tools is a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Must be able to work remotely during standard business hours, with flexibility to meet business needs and travel up to 15% for team gatherings, production, partnerships, and key events.
  • Must have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and reliable high‑speed internet to protect sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Applicants with lived experience and/or training as a peer recovery specialist are encouraged to apply.
Benefits
  • Starting base salary: $175,000–$190,000. Actual offers may vary based on market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and short‑term disability benefits for employees and their families.
  • Mental health support through insurance coverage, including Talkspace and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Four weeks of vacation accrued per calendar year, increasing to five weeks after two years of employment.
  • Accrued sick leave at one hour for every 30 hours paid.
  • Nine paid holidays annually.
  • Twelve weeks of fully paid parental leave following the birth or adoption of a child, after six months of employment.
  • Eligibility for a 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Fully remote work with company‑provided hardware.
  • The opportunity to contribute to meaningful work focused on improving access to compassionate, evidence‑based addiction care.
  • Optional access to a riverfront headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
