Job summary

May Mobility, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, seeks a Director of Perception to lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap of the Autonomy Perception team. You will advance May's MPDM architecture and ensure high-quality sensor data drives core autonomy software.

You will manage engineering managers and engineers, partner with Vehicle, Product, and Operations, define KPIs, hire talent, and steer cross-functional initiatives to deploy reliable perception capabilities in commercial deployments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience.
  • PhD or masters degree in a relevant, highly technical field (e.g. robotics, computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, physics)
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex autonomy problems as principal investigator, staff or director (or equivalent)
  • 7+ years of software-focused engineering experience solving challenging robotics problems in mission critical software and/or robotic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Be a technical thought leader to champion May Mobility's mission, vision, values and priorities and develop autonomy strategy with executives and engineering leaders.
  • Work cross-functionally with Vehicle Engineering, Product, and Operations to deploy autonomy perception solutions.
  • Deliver advances to perception technology including improvements to detection, classification, tracking and prediction.
