Job summary

May Mobility in Ann Arbor, Michigan is seeking a Director of Perception to guide the vision, strategy, and technical roadmap of the Autonomy Perception team. The role ensures MPDM-based software uses high-quality sensor data and processing to advance autonomy.

You will lead autonomy engineers, work with Vehicle Engineering, Product and Operations, and drive measurable improvements in object detection, tracking, and prediction while shaping long-term roadmaps.

Qualifications

10+ years of engineering experience
PhD or masters degree in a highly technical field (robotics, CS, CE, aerospace, physics)
Experience leading a team of 10+ engineers
Experience as an IC in autonomous vehicle or related space
Desirable: MPDM experience, startup experience, hiring/mentoring experience

Responsibilities

Lead vision, strategy and roadmap for the Autonomy Perception team.
Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, Product and Operations to deploy perception solutions.
Drive advances in object detection, classification, tracking and prediction.
Ensure perception tech operates in commercial deployments and triage issues.
Develop KPIs and roadmap to improve autonomy performance.
