Job summary

May Mobility seeks a Perception Lead to steer how our autonomous shuttles perceive and interpret the world, with a focus on scene detection and robustness under adverse weather. You will lead architectural updates to production-grade perception systems and mentor engineers across teams.

You will drive multimodal model integration, ML pipelines, and data strategies for real-world deployments, ensuring safety and high performance for the fleet.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years with real-world robot systems and production-grade code.
• Master's degree in Robotics, CS, or CE or equivalent engineering foundation.
• Demonstrated leadership in architectural decisions for perception/autonomy stacks.
• Strong in C/C++/Python; Linux software development.
• Experience developing or fine-tuning large multimodal models for perception.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural updates to the perception stack for scalability and latency.
• Develop and test scene detection and activation logic in runtime context.
• Improve perception robustness under degraded weather and sensor faults.
• Design and implement high‑quality production code for perception features.
• Integrate multimodal models (VLMs, LLMs) into the perception stack.
• Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews across teams.
• Drive extensive testing to meet release schedules.
• Lead data/ML pipelines for multimodal data alignment for training models.
• Track and trend perception performance in the field.
