The Utah Athletic Foundation (dba Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization formed after the successful hosting of the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Its unique purpose centers on fostering growth of winter sport in the State of Utah and to effectively manage the Utah Olympic Park, Utah Olympic Oval, and Soldier Hollow venues.

Overview

The Director of Applications, is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization’s applications and services for the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF). This role has accountability for ensuring the numerous and varied digital products, platforms and systems (collectively: “Applications”) in the UOLF ecosystem are fit-for-purpose and meet the strategic and operational needs of the UOLF workforce and its key stakeholders and client groups. Reporting to the COO, the Director of Applications manages the Applications Administrator and Business Intelligence Engineer (collectively the “Applications team”), to deliver the strategic objectives of this role.

Objectives of this Role

  • Ensure that the digital products, platforms and systems in the UOLF Applications Ecosystem are fit-for-purpose and meet the strategic and operational needs of the UOLF workforce and its key stakeholders/client groups.
  • Director of Application key responsibilities include:
    • Lead, mentor and manage the members of the UOLF Applications team.
    • Own and manage the end-to-end technical lifecycle of Applications (e.g., Centaman, Bond, Hubspot,
Rosterfy, NetSuite, UOLF website) and provide technical input for requirements, procurement, contracting, deployment, training, business-as-usual (BAU) operations, and ongoing innovation and evolution of UOLF applications.

    • In doing so:
      • take ownership of the management, ongoing update (in line with the Change Management process), maintenance and budget of the “Applications” in the “Technology Service Matrix (TSM)”
      • take ownership of the strategic initiatives in the UOLF 2025-2029 Technology Strategy that relate to Applications
      • work within the existing Technology Governance process including the Technology Steering Committee (TSC)
    • Work with the UOLF Business Owner of each application to understand the use cases, features and functions required to support business operations and initiatives
    • Work with application providers and UOLF business owners to build a robust training environment to ensure that software platforms are being utilized effectively and consistently.
    • Collaborate with IT, HR, and Venue teams to design, document, and update SOPs and training materials for all applications, ensuring consistent and effective adoption across all the UOLF venues
    • Work with existing and potential providers of applications, as well as the Applications Administrator and Business Owners, to ensure that system functionality meets the needs of business users and operations and is fit-for-purpose
    • Serve as the liaison between application providers (vendors) and application users (UOLF workforce or representatives of key client groups) and oversee any approved professional services and support from providers
    • Work with UOLF owners to develop business cases and provide technical input into application-related New Service Requests (NSRs), as per the Technology Change Management (TCM) process
    • Manage any deployments of applications as an outcome of approved application-related New Service Requests (NSRs)
    • Business Intelligence: work with the BI Engineer, Applications Administrator, UOLF Business Owners and the COO (and CEO as relevant) to ensure that BI dashboards, analytics and insights are helping UOLF to make data-driven strategic and tactical decisions, and to implement the strategic initiatives in the UOLF 2025-2029 Technology Strategy that relate to Data, Analytics and automation.
    • Work collaboratively with other business units within UOLF to help achieve strategic and tactical initiatives. Other tasks as directed by the COO from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Flexible work schedule – must be available to work week days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position typically operates in a professional office environment.
  • Travel may be required for meetings, training, or other work-related events at other venues.
  • Must be able to sit and work at a desk for long periods, as well as able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing - to converse with others in a normal conversation.
  • Balancing, bending, climbing, kneeling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and sitting.

Required Knowledge And Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field. (MBA Preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in software platform expertise, with at least 3 years in a leadership or manager-level role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of enterprise applications, internal administrative systems and public-facing digital platforms.
  • Familiarity with the technology stack used in sports and event environments, such as registration & booking, access control, fan engagement, concessions/POS systems, and mobile app integrations
  • Proven ability to map, streamline, and support cross-functional workflows involving operations, events, finance, ticketing, registration, scheduling, and community engagement.
  • Experience integrating disparate systems to drive unified user experiences and reporting.
  • Solid grasp of data governance, access control, and security standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) in multi-user environments
  • Positive attitude and participative work style with an ability to receive feedback, work creatively, effectively, and collaboratively in a fast-paced and varied work environment
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills with a high standard of quality, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
