Job summary

United Community Bank is seeking a Director of Application Development to lead internal development, establish standards, govern repos, and oversee API platforms to deliver secure, scalable software aligned with business goals.

Reporting to CIO, this role drives risk management, AI governance, and delivery excellence while mentoring teams and ensuring regulatory compliance across the technology stack.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in application development or leadership.
• Experience governing enterprise code repositories.
• Experience with secure code review, risk, APIs, and regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal application development and establish standards, priorities, and delivery practices.
• Centralize administration of GitHub or successor repository tool and enforce repository standards.
• Partner with Information Security to conduct code reviews and strengthen development standards.
• Maintain API inventory and oversee API platforms, standards, and lifecycle practices.
• Oversee design, development, support, and maintenance of internal applications and AI-enabled solutions.
