Job summary

United Community seeks a Director of Application Development to lead internal application delivery, establish coding standards, and govern API platforms. You will partner with Information Security to strengthen code reviews and manage API inventories while ensuring secure, scalable solutions aligned with regulatory expectations.

The role also oversees AI-enabled solution development and manages risk, technical debt, and delivery discipline across teams, with a focus on governance and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent education experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in application development, software engineering, or development platform leadership, including team leadership and delivery governance.
• Strong knowledge of SDLC, source code management, testing, release management, and DevOps practices.
• Experience governing enterprise code repositories (GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps) with consistent controls across teams.
• Experience with secure code review, open-source and third-party dependency risk, APIs and integration platforms, in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal application development and establish standards, priorities, and delivery practices for secure, scalable, and business-aligned solutions.
• Centralize administration of code repositories and enforce repository standards, access controls, branching, approvals, and retention.
• Partner with Information Security to conduct code reviews and strengthen development standards; identify risks related to coding practices, dependencies, and external calls.
• Maintain a current API inventory and oversee API platforms, standards, documentation, and lifecycle practices.
• Oversee design, development, support, and maintenance of internal applications and approved AI-enabled solutions; manage delivery priorities and lifecycle management.
• Align development, APIs, repositories, and AI solutions with policy, security standards, regulatory expectations, and responsible use requirements.
• Lead, coach, and develop the team while improving delivery discipline.
• Participate in required compliance training and related activities.
