Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an analytical chemist to join the synthetic molecule design and development group. This hands-on role (<70% bench work) focuses on developing analytical methods and characterizing processes to advance drug candidates from early development to manufacturing readiness.

You will expand chromatography expertise (LC, GC, NMR) and collaborate with synthetic chemists and process engineers to solve critical challenges. Strong problem-solving and data translation to insights for project teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience with chromatographic (LC, GC, IC) method development or validation in pharmaceutical, chemical, or regulated industry setting.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work visas.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize analytical methods to measure purity, potency, and other QC attributes of small molecule substances.
• Select and implement analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, NMR, MS) to support development and manufacturing transfer.
• Assess stability of development materials under stressed conditions and evaluate degradation.
• Collaborate with chemists and engineers to ensure methods support development activities and GMP transfer.
• Maintain safety and technical rigor in laboratory work.
